Education:
University of Manchester where he gained a BSc (Hons) degree in Building Technology and an MSc degree in Building Services Engineering. He was awarded the Year Prize in 1974 and 1976 for the highest achieving student and a special McKay prize for an outstanding final year structural analysis and design project.

Career Details:
After leaving University, Edward Perks joined Consulting Engineers Ove Arup & Partners.

 Amongst other things, he developed practice-wide design methods for indoor swimming pools with particular emphasis on energy conservation.  Later he was asked to join Arup's Industrial Engineering Group where he designed fuel, steam and high temperature hot water facilities for pharmaceutical process work.  In 1982 he designed various process air-conditioning systems for a £140 million government funded printing and minting facility in the Middle East. He moved from Arups to join The Sinnett Partnership to become their design director in 1984.  

Edward Perks joined Ernest Griffiths in 1994 to open their Leeds Office.
